This is a very useful summary of the kinds of videos possible without killing yourself at an editing deck! Video is going to be 80% of all online advertising by 2020, so we’d better get busy!! Looking forward to reading the rest of your series, Josh.

  2. Sandy says:

Thanks Josh for the overview. I am interested in knowing more about doing video via the PowerPoint method. Hope to learn more here. To your Abundance!

Good job Josh on showing us the different ways we can create videos. I like Video Maker FX and Easy Sketch Pro. I also use Camtasia and Sreencast O Matic. Love you writeups. Keep them coming.

When you get down to it, there are so many ways to make video, but some are easier than others. I noticed you did not cover Pow Toons, Google Plus and a couple of other free methods.

Stealing video clips? Oh no! Asking for trouble if you do that without permission. If I want to add a clip, I research the Library of Congress and some other public domain sites. You would be amazed at what you can find.

I also use Video Maker FX and have Easy Sketch Pro and Camtasia. Unfortunately, since the new update for Easy Sketch Pro, it is not working on my computer. The support for that software is really slow…have been waiting for several days just to do a screenshare.

I look forward to the day that someone develops a software that will integrate all the available softwares we have now into one program. And because voice over can sometimes be a challenge, wouldn’t it be great if a video software could automatically sync the voice with the clip?

    • I actually did forget Google hangouts! Thanks Dawn. Pow Toons is also a new one for me so thank you, however it is still cartoon animation so still fits in.

That would be some software “Power Video Creator Majic PRO” Slogan – The Ultimate Video Creation Tool! hehe.

Voice syncing. Yes,. It would be magical

  5. Great round up Joshua, thanks.

I am a Mac user and have been involved in video for a while. In fact, one of my YouTube clients channels for which I film, edit and promote is heading for 1/2 million views with nearly 1000 subscribers. Not only does this channel and its films promote their products, but it serves to support their products and has reduced their support calls by a staggering 80%. So, it makes money, saves money and offers a great service their clients.

So, when Paul (Jenkins) says that video will serve 80% of all advertising by 202, he is not kidding. :)

As a side note, I have just discovered “Debut” by NCH Software for screen capture. It is free or you can upgrade to the commercial version for a piddly $39, but it has many features….. especially for the money, or lack money.

    Thanks again Joshua.

    Josh,
Great post! It makes video manageable the way you have it all laid out.

Video is definitely a topic that can be overwhelming because I think people have a tendency to make it more complicated then it needs to be. Also, the fear of being on camera can be crippling.

    Really liked this post.

  7. I tried using videofx, but it wouldn’t save the videos properly. I have used easysketchpro which I like, but I also find that doing a voice over on simple text slides can work well, despite people seeing that is a dead model I don’t agree, as long as the content and voice are engaging enough!
    Some nice tips!

  8. Boon says:

    Hi Josh,
That’s a great post. The problem I have with creating video is actually the creative part of it. How do you present the information so that people will watch? Getting the right tools certainly helps.
    Cheers,
    Boon
